Strengthening Bedford Hospital

Richard believes in a strong local hospital, providing vital, high quality, health care services to the local community.  He wants to reduce the blizzard of Government directives and instead let the local health care professionals take the lead.  Richard is a member of the Bedford Hospital trust

 

Making Schools in Bedford & Kempston the Best !

Good schools are what make a great town –and Bedford is privileged to have some really great schools.  We need to work together to ensure that all children in Bedford and Kempston have access to the school of their choice and that our schools, together, provide the best education to equip our next generation to succeed. Richard is now a governor of Hazeldene Lower School – the school which he attended forty years ago.

 

Congestion Relief

Bedford has suffered from poor transportation links for years: chronic “school run” congestion; an incomplete bypass; threatened cut backs in fast train service for the town.  Richard wants to see more investment in local roads, rail and bus links as part of his plan to revive the economic strength of the town.

 

Fighting For Fairness

Bedford has lost out over the last ten years and has not received its fair share of public funding under this Labour government.  Whether it is funding for our health services or our police, access to cancer treatment or financial support for our town centre redevelopment, Richard will fight for Bedford’s fair share

 

Stronger Local Economy and Better Jobs

Richard believes that Bedford – with the right leadership - can recapture its historical economic strength, and will work tirelessly as part of a local team with the Mayor and Council to achieve this goal.
