Since moving to Cauldwell, Kitty has been very active in campaigning for issues that affect the local community. Kitty has stood as a Conservative candidate for the Borough and County Councils several times since 2004 and her increasing support over the years is testament to her commitment to Cauldwell. In May 2006 she was elected to the Cauldwell and Kingsbrook Urban Community Council and from May 2007 to May 2008 sat as its Chair. As Chair she took forward a number of initiatives including a youth opportunities fair for Cauldwell’s young people and meeting at different locations around the Cauldwell and Kingsbrook area to allow for greater public participation. The continuation of these different initiatives are testament to their success.
Kitty’s most recent campaign has been against the closure of the Elstow Road Post Office. Unfortunately the Post Office eventually closed despite a vigorous campaign of public meetings, letters and public information.
Other recent community activity is the ongoing fight to save the Mile Road Allotments, the positive development of the Camford Engineering site, organising community events and her ongoing work on the Urban Community Council.
Since moving to Bedford in 2000 Kitty has immersed herself in the life and community of Cauldwell and has involved herself in many campaigns on behalf of local residents. Kitty works hard to stand up for all groups in Cauldwell and loves to meet people of all backgrounds.
Kitty previously worked at Silsoe Research Institute and then at Cranfield University as a mathematical modeller of agricultural systems. She now works from home as a maths tutor as well as dedicating a large part of her time working actively on behalf of the local community.Kitty married Andrew Sams on the 1st March 2008 – both love living in Cauldwell and are committed to serving their community..
Kitty is actively involved in a local church and enjoys a wide range of hobbies that include football, debating, cooking and drawing.
