Candidate - Catherine Dale

Candidate - Lewis Williams

Lewis lives in Bedford with his wife Wendy.  He has been an active member of the Conservative Party for forty years.  During the time he lived in Kempston he served on Kempston Town Council and is proud that he served as Town Mayor in the year 1990/91.

Lewis runs his own car hire and contract transport business, and he has a keen interest in ensuring Bedford Town Centre is re-developed to the benefit of all, both for extra facilities and jobs.

He is standing as a candidate in Kingsbrook ward because he believes the new unitary Council will give new opportunities to improve the town.  In particular, there are many road improvements, in addition to the re-surfacing of roads and pavements, which will improve road safety for all residents in Kingsbrook.  He believes that many more residential areas should have 20 mph zones.

Catherine Dale grew up in Bedford and has always considered it her home town.  She moved back here from Luton six years ago with her husband, Howard, who is a sergeant with the British Transport Police, and two children, Caroline and Thomas.  Thomas is now at Warwick University and Caroline is doing her GCSEs at Dame Alice Harpur School.

She qualified as a chartered accountant and following a career break to look after her children, now works as an accountancy tutor in Luton and Milton Keynes.

Having lived under a unitary authority in Luton for sixteen years, and seen the benefits that it can bring, she strongly believes that this is an exciting time for Bedford.  There is now the opportunity to concentrate on improving the future of Bedford, for example by taking full control of the schools and by attracting businesses to the area, improving employment prospects and prosperity."
