Robert was brought up and educated in Winchester. He moved to Bedford to start a
new business in 2001, which he has grown successfully and it now employs 20 people
from Bedford and the surrounding area. He has a high regard for his locally-
Robert’s decision to stand for the new unitary Council stems from his belief that the way to change things for the better is to be involved. He was frustrated by a lack of action by local councillors, who then claimed credit for the achievements of others, and felt that people in Bedford deserved to be getting better value for their Council Tax. If elected, he will put his knowledge and experience of running a successful business into his work as a councillor with the new Unitary Council. He will respond actively to the needs of Putnoe residents, take responsibility for addressing Putnoe issues, and work hard to protect the green spaces and improve the facilities in the area.
In his spare time, Robert is studying with the Open University for a degree in English History, and he keeps fit as a member of a gym and a health club in the town. His border collie also takes an active part in ensuring he remains fit and healthy.
